Default oil and a new engine

on a rebuilt motor how long until the metal shavings cut down in the oil cause i just hit 9000 and there is not alot but there is still a noticable bit stuck on my magnetic drain plug
and there are no strange noises or anything i just don't remember i know some things take a while to wear in but 9k seems high to me

Every time I change the fluid in the tranny in my Jeep there are some fine shavings on the magnet. The engine will wear no matter how well maintained and that is what you're seeing. Don't sweat it.

Just to double check, you're talking about the fine, almost powdery type stuff, not metal "shavings", right?

ya its smaller than confection sugar it just looks like alot on that magnet it makes a ball about an 1/8 of an inch
