I'm putting a 2004 Viper T56 behind my 408. I think there are adapters not sure but I made my own. I picked up the tranny for $1275 rebuilt. No core charge either. With 25" tall tires, 3.73 rear, at 2000 rpm I'll be cruising at 80 mph with a 408 Clevor. Here's a gear calculator for a T56:

im most definitly jealous of your trans... and your 408... i dont know why i went with a 393... I guess its because I like revving the crap outta everything lol. 393 should rev a little higher then a 408 i think, but the 408 prolly woulda been better. O well to late now, next engine 427 FE

Edit: when and how are you putting that viper trans in your car? And what year is the car, I am wondering how big of a mess im getting into trying to put a t56 in my 69 auto.

I have a roller cam, I'm going to rev it up to 7k. I built it with 351C heads with 76.2 combustion chambers. 8.9:1 compression for 15lbs boost through my vortech supercharger. I didn't add my post to make you jealous, I wanted to let you know it can be done. Don't let these guys talk you out of going T56 if that's what you want. I'm doing it for less than what it'd cost for a TKO600 would cost.

The T56 s going into the 66 coupe in my sig in a few weeks. I have to make room for the 351c heads so I'm cutting some of the shock towers. Not a problem for you. I'm using a lakewood lowproof bellhousing for a sbf and T5 tranny. The bearing retainer is off a T5 to center the tranny behind the bell. I know I will have to cut the trans hump a little to make room for the tranny. Here's some quick infor on the swap:

EDIT, I've seen it somewhere but someone has done the swap in a classic on another forum. I can't remember where, if I find it I'll post it up for you.

does anyone know what wierd stuff ill need to do this swap? Do i need the clutch pedle assembly out of the viper or vette? I assume i need a new trans mount, and i know ill have to be cutting my tranny hump a little, but what other wierd things will i need to make this fit? Only things i cant think of are some shifter assembly, a new bellhousing to mate it up, and some sort of clutch pedle assembly. Also is the t56 a hydrolic clutch, or can I make it either manuel or hydrolic?

well that blows. I guess I spent too much time typing everything up. Well, I spent a good hour trying to give you everything I know, hunted down all the websites and stuff, my recommendations, lists upon lists. Keep it simple this time

EDIT: Hey Bro, its kinda funny having to scroll over to read your posts. I don't know how to fix it, but other peoples posts, its not like this.

haha, yeah I dont know whats going on, but that kit looks awesome however its a little pricy. Least I have the parts list I have no problem with used stuff, if i can get a trans with a clutch real cheap im gunna go that route. Although if i cant find on that looks sweet, thanks man

Edit: I was jsut thinking, will I have to cut my trans tunnel still or is that a special t56 that fits the mustang with out cutting stuff up? Also do you know how much power that clutch is made to hold that comes with it?

Cool, I hear that, used stuff is not always bad stuff. Yeah, with the list on that website you could fine tune your search. They do sell the crossmember but its like $180. If you have any welding skills you could make something similar or just make something in general. Even used a TKO600 will probably go for close to $1000. You will need a 26 spline 10.5" clutch disc and 10.5" pressure plate. For a T56, you will have to cut the tunnel a little no matter which T56 you go with. There are 3 T56 you could use, from an 03/04 Cobra, Dodge Viper, or Camaro. I wouldn't touch the Camaro one, the other two will be better. The clutch the kit comes with, I don't know how much hp it will handle. McLeod 800 series clutch. Just guessing 800 hp? Maybe not.
