Very unuasual, I've got it too, almost in the exact same place. Doesn't seem like rust at all or a stain from that either. Mine is not as thick as yours but is the same color, but with no texture at all. Runs about 2 inches vertically by about 1/4 inch wide. Any ideas? Tomorrow I will pull the car out of the garage and take a better look and maybe a photo in the daylight.

I have no idea what it is, but it obviously was in a liquid form at one point in time, and it takes several years to show up.

Yea - but it's still just as funny.

A bunch of guys I used to hang out with knew every joke in the book - we just used to say the punchline and everyone already knew the joke. Just repeatinga good punchline at the right moment would get milk shooting out of more than one nose...

It may very well be rust. But, I did rub some rust encapsulator on it, and it didn't turn black. However, if it is just leaking down from under the seam, then what I am actually seeing is not the rust, but the aftermath of the rust that is behind the seam.

looks like some form of rust proof. On my bike, which is a classics steel frame, the welder coated the inside of the tubes with a similar material, that helps keep unpainted surfaces from rusting, looks about the same color.

Mine has it in a few places too. I'm pretty sure its "RUST RUNOFF" water gets in between the weatherstripping and starts to rust the roof pillars then drys out the next time it gets wet the water caries the very fine rust deposits down until they leak out someplace you can see, the water drys again and the process repeats all over again until the build up of "rust runoff" becomes noticeable.

Remember its not rusting where you can see it, it is rusting some where up stream where you cant see it.

that's my hypothesis.
