dont shy aware from lunati, erson, engle, or isky either - they all make great cams and if you really know how to read cam specs having multiple brands to choose from gives you a broader selection. heck, even ford racing has some nice grinds available - from what you have done now my suggestion would be something in the 220-230 duration @ .050 range with something like .460 - .480 lift. that should give you plenty of bottom end and midrange pull, a little lope, and maintain good all around drivability.

No!! No!! No!!! Best of the best is the best and why do it twice when you can do it right in the first place!!! Besides the upgrade will cost you more in the near future, for sure!!!!!!

because in the near future i plan on building my 351w. that i have sitting in my garage.
i honestly think that this cam and rocker arms will be the very last mod for this 289.
- what "type" of rocker arms should i be looking at?? (stamped, roller tip, full roller?)
-and what "type" of cam? (hyd. lifter, hyd. roller, solid roller, solid tappet?)

well if your heads are stock now and you dont wanna pull them off and have machine work done your pretty much stuck with normal rocker arms AND a cam small enough to work with your stock springs. again this falls back to something with a lift in the .460 - .480 range.

since your going to be building a 351 soon i'd suggest going cheap yet effective. summit has a 218/228 @.050 / .471 lift cam which i used in a 302 with a similar wetup to what you have. the thing was a little beast off the line, and had great drivability. as a bonus a cam/lifter kit is like 100 bucks which lets you save more towards the beast you will be building later

i also plan to get new rocker arms. will this make a diffrence?? i also need help choosing those. i dont want to spend a lot but want some fairly good ones that will last a while. any suggestions?
If you use Sig Erson full roller aluminum rockers you can dimple the splash guard in the valve cover and not have to run tall covers...plus nobody will know you have them!
