Default how difficult is a limited slip upgrade?

I was thinking about upgrading to a limited slip diff. I have some basic questions as you might imagine.

1) how difficult is this upgrade and can i buy the parts new or is it junkyard hunting?

2) how do i find the best clutch strength for the diff (how tight?)

3) are the benefits greater than the time/cost?

4) any drawback? its it okay to use with c4 trans? ok with a manual as well?

Thanks

its pretty much a bolt in u just loosed the bolts retaing the axel slide them out drain the fluid remove the center section and add the limited slip unit since ur not adding gears it will just bolt back together u might find one in the junkyard but happy hunting id prefer new unless u want to do the crawl[8D] as for making it stiffer u can add extra clutches and steels to let it have more night prety much the same way u add extra in a auto tranny as for the question on auto or manual ti will wlrk with either

okay cool
where is a good spot to pick a new one up that will fit a 66?

are there any drawbacks over the stock "one leger"?

its probably an 8"

I dont know if they are available for 8", but I would look at a Detroit tru track as an option.
I am still trying to figure out how they work, but they are cheaper than rebuilding a lsd over here and work much better than an lsd.

yeah those caught my eye straight away. When I do upgrade I will get the Detroit truetrack, the gears dont require any maintenance and work as well or better as far as i can tell.

If I cant get them in 8" what do i have to do to get a 9" gear in the rear end? do I have to replace the whole shooting match or just get a 9" gear??

Thanks
