Default 68 Coupe Tire Size

I have a 68 coupe with a 289 v8. The tires that are on the car when I got it are 215 75 R14. Through a tire selector program - the stock tire size seems to be 205/215 70 R14. To look better, it was recommended that I get R15's to take up more space in the wheel well, but then lower the profile. I'm nervous about getting a larger tire b/c I don't want to tire to hit when I make a turn. I'm not interested in racing the car, its really a weekend car for my sons and I. Can someone help me in choosing a tire size?

stock tire size on a V8 was 195/70/14. You can go to a 205/70/14 for a little wider footprint and still have a good ride, and no tire rubbing. Since you stated its a weekend driver and not a racer, I would not bother going to a 15" wheel and spending all that money for wheels and tires when its not needed.

I run 205/70/14 on mine with no problems.
