Proportioning valve recommendations
What name brand proportioning valve would you recommend?
My "disk brake control valve "(part#23091) leaked : and when I took in apart the spring was busted and I guess the o-rings must be wore out because it leaks.
So because my rears lock up when I hard brake, I'll put in a proportioning valve.

RE: Proportioning valve recommendations
Are you looking for anadjustable valve? If so, Wilwood is a major player. Do you have front disc, rear drum? If so, you can use a distribution block from most any '74 up Ford passenger car (e.g. Granada)that has the proportioning valve built into it.
This should give you a lot of choices.

RE: Proportioning valve recommendations
On my '67convertable ,it has front disc and drum rears. My pressure differential valve serves as the distrubtion block. I'd like to just slam in a proportioning valve right where I took out the old disc brake pressure control valve which is back by the rear-end. I'm not a racer. It's just a summer driver.

RE: Proportioning valve recommendations
Mine has a SSBC one that came with my front disc conversion kit. Seems to work fine. There was a thread a lil while back that linked to a chevy site which showed how to properly adjust a proportioning valve. It also listed about 6 different name brands of valves. I lost the site. Anyone know what thread that was in???
Edit: I found it! Hooray for Google. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...tioning_valve/

Those proportioning valves are available is 'some' brake rebuilding shops. There's one in San Jose, CA,that had a half a dozen sitting on a shelf at around $80.You want the number, let me know.

OK Jim ....................what's the # in CA, if it's not to much bother.Appreciate it!
I'm no engineer much less a mechanic, but if a guy had the right o-rings and right spring maybe these could be rebuilt.

The one that my67pony wants is the brass cylinder model for minimal amount of modifications, eg, 'bolt-in'. It's about 3 1/2 inches with the correct fittings to attach to the existing brake line.

The phone number in San Jose, CA, is for 'Power Brake Exchange', 408 292-1305. I don't know if they will want a core. Tell them you want the porportioning valve for a 67 to 69 Mustang of Fairlane, I don't know if they identify it by part number(C7OZ-2B091-B is the Ford service p/n but it is not the onethat is marked on the part) but it should have the "2B091" somewhere on the body.
