Default 69 mach1 Air filter fit Question

Just replaced the tired old motor in my 69 mach1 this a nice fresh 351W, engine sits the same hight, but I am running an Edelbrock Victor Jr manifold along with an edelbrock performer series carb with electric choke. Now just looking at this thing I could tell the stock air filter is not going to fit. I need a real low profile air cleaner/filter that will work! I have very little room, and I really don't want to cut my hood! I am looking for options! Any sugestions?

BTW! Happy 4th!

I have a low profile Holley foam filter on my Mach. Got to Autozone or the like and get one. It's chrome and triangular in shape. I think it is called the Holley Pro-Flo or maybe thats Edelbrocks anyway, Holley and Edelbrock both make one that is basically the same.

I had one of those foam filters for a while until my Holley backfired one day and caught it on fire. Burnt my hood but didn't harm anything else.

Yea, theres the drop base too. However, the 1.25" drop will not fit carbs with electric chokes. Do you have a spacer on your carb? I have a 1" spacer on the Mach with a 351C and an edelbrock 4barrel intake and the pro-flo fits good. Just be careful about backfires. But not only will the backfire burn your filter but it will eat you powervalve too.

Hi, and thanks, I was about to order that K&N with the 1 1/4 drop. however my carb does have the electric choke, but if I have to use a 1 inch spacer that kind of puts me back to square one? will a 7/8 drop clear? maybe I can find a 14X2 filter element instead of 14X3?

Ok, did some measuring and I think I found a solution that works! A 7/8 drop 14" base, 2" K&N 14" filter element, K&N gause 14" filter lid to make up the lost air flow for a 2" filter element. Puts me at about 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 above the carb. I think this will work well!
