Default Eleanor or stock GT-500

Hi everybody, I am new to the forum. I have a 67 Fastback GT that is waiting to be restored and i was wondering what would bring more money in the future: an Eleanor or a stock GT-500 clone.

Rebuild the car for you, not to turn a profit. It's really hard to make a profit restoring Mustangs, and you'll likely end up spending more time and money restoring it than you'll get out of it

I can't imagine it being much fun to build a car only to sell it to someone else. On the other hand, someday I would like to buy a fully restored Eleanor and let someone else clean the grease out from under their nails and I'll do the driving!!!

Go with the Eleanor and post it on here when it's ready for sale!

Just as my personal observation, the Eleanors are either loved or hated. While the GT-500 has a universally accepted, broad appeal. So purely, as an investment, the GT-500 clone will always have appeal, and a buyer base. I think the Eleanor style will be remembered as a 2k fad, like 70's paint jobs, and in the future be much more likely be purchased as a Mustang platform to modify, not to mantain as an out of date fad car. Hense not a good investment.
But then I think Eleanors look like "Hot Wheels" toys, so my opinion could be biased.
Starfury is right, in suggesting you build the car to please your self.

go with the gt 500, there are way to many eleanors around, and not enough classic gt 500's. when you make an eleanor you really dont have any choices after that, when you make a gt 500, you can pick your color, strip color, and so on. i mean its not a whole lot of choice but its something to make your car stand out and not look like every single other over made eleanor, its my opinion, i liked the eleanor at first, but ive seen way to much of it.

how about not building a clone of an eleanor or gt500 and get some creativity and do something original...now that seems to be a lost art in the hobby.

A Black "E" is simply.............................. Well, you know what I mean. Its your cat and you will have to drive it. I thought last year the "Eleanor" craze was just about over untill I seen some numbers of some sales. Build it for yourself, and later if you decide to sell, you won't loose either way.

Agree...build it for yourself...it will be much more satisfying than trying to anticipate what the market's going to do.
