SERIOUS QUESTION: Turn down the volume on Exhaust (hearing loss?)

RE: SERIOUS QUESTION: Turn down the volume on Exhaust (hearing loss?)
Okay so I went down to my local Muffler shop...
The guy seemed to think my Flowmaster system was not very good quality and he may be right. It is not the prettiest thing. He didnt think that adding tail pipes would make that much of a difference in my setup.
When I asked him what he thought would be the best thing to do, he said he thought I should install a Dynomax system. From the headers to the tailpipes, $500.
This would include:
2 exhaust pipes
2 Dynomax mufflers
2 tail pipes
2 tips hangers
1 cross over pipe
All installed, $500
What do you think? Is this a good upgrade? Should I do it? Thanks for your thoughts!

Whats the price for locally fabbed tailpipes only? (if the exhaust system is still in decent shape, why change it) 500 bucks is lot more than 60-100 bucks for tail pipes and may be worth the risk. tail pipes will quiet it down some .Your call

Hmmm...
I didnt get a quote on tailpipes alone. Any other thoughts on this? Is that $500 money that I dont need to spend? The Flowmaster setup is probably good enough for now. There is nothing really WRONG with it that I know of.

Sounds like your muffler guy is trying to make a few extra bucks from you. Just adding tailpipe will help. $500 isn't bad IF you need a new exhaust system if not, you don't need to spend that much now.

Tail pipes will quiet it down. I like Hooker Aero Chambers, mellow at cruise, scream when you open it up, not exactly loud. Also an h or x pipe will help to quiet it down as well.
