Registration complication
Help??!!
I'm new to this great forum and have a question. I'm in the process of buying a '65 convertible and in discussion with the owner he revealed that the plate on the door with the VIN on it fell off many years ago. Being in Maryland, this may present a problem at inspection/registration time...right? This sale/ownership is totally legit, the guy owned the car since 1975 after getting it from his father.
Is there a way to contact Ford, and get the number? Is that realistic - the original motor is in the car. It does appear on the title, which he has, but I don't want to get screwed here...anyone have any help for me?
I'm a relative novice, but really want to jump on this car.
Thanks!

RE: Registration complication
IIRC The vin should also be stamped into the tops of the fender aprons, I believe on the driver side there is a cutout in the fender so it is visible, other wise the passenger side fender may have to be taken loose to see it.
If any of this info is incorrect, someoneplease correct me.

Nope, that's right. There's a couple other places as well, but I can't recall where they are.
