stick with the 302 or trade it for a 351w then build your suspension and worry about power in a few years.

i was thinking about saving and getting arebuilt 351w short block and building it in my shop, then when it'sbuilt andready, slap on a 5 speed and put her in. how does that sound? how much power do you think a 351w with the right cam, heads, headers, and exhaust can make?

stock 351 ~250 hp /~350-380tq with a custom cam some 205 AFR's Kooks competition headers and some "high Compression pistons" , and exhaust?
351w -250hp
????? cam depends lift duration and other stuff dont know about this one to much
headers- +12hp
High comp pistons 10.5:1- +30hp (maybe more)
h pipe- ~10 hp
holley 650 DP carb + 30 HP
heads AFR 205's- +75hp

my guess is right at 350-400hp and 300 to the wheels, but i dont know much about cams so thats just a guess

Nope, crappy motor. That's why Ford made/sold millions and millions of them over the years.

I bet the only engine that outnumbers the 302 is the Chevy 350.

still, 289 > 302 i dont know why ford EVER made the switch. it just wasnt worth it for the cubes. kinda like chevy with the 283 > 305 deal. WTF were the automakers thinking?

I'm running a 302 in my '65 and it'll light em' up pretty damn well.I got a mild cam, headers, dual Flowmaster 40's and a K&N filter. I'm really pleased with it.
