Default steering problem

well i replaced my control valve and power steering ram last weekend. worked great until i came back from a 30 mile trip in the afternoon. stopped at a light and all the sudden it felt like manual steering. as soon as i started going it cleared right up. seems like i spilled some fluid on the belt and front pulley. i cleaned the pulleys and bought a new belt. doesn't seem to be doing it now but the steering doesn't feel like it did when i first put it on. it feels tighten. when i first installed it the steering felt as easy as the old setup but now feels tighter. i flushed the system before hooking everything up and filled with power steering fluid. the only thing different i did was i installed a 7 bladed flex fan to take the place of the 5 bladed, it did bring my temps down 10 degrees. i figured that the 7 bladed fan contributed to the belt slipping before i cleaned the pulleys and replaced the belt but how could it make the steering feel tougher to work than before.
