Hawkins,

What competition have you won with theses Type R's. I'm not saying they are bad, but there are many subs that will sound better and be louder for less money. Shaking the ground is one thing, but have a loud, clean stereo is another. Oval speakers are inherently more dirty then round speakers, and thats not an opinion its physics.

Amps can also be underrated if they are rated at 14.4 and still put out consistantly more power then thier rated power.

Don't waste your time with the type X, you can do way better for you rmoney. Do some research and you will really be dominating the competition.

Booger,

Get those subs in a sealed enclosure! You will be amazed at the increase in sound quality! Those 5.25's must have been working hard to cover the gaps left by that box. Bandpass boxes are great one note wonders, but really struggle to play music effectively.

There is nothing wrong with cheap. Spending money effectivly is what I do as well. Move those suckers to the front fo the car and you have a pretty nice front soundstage. Especially if they are amplified.

Do you still need some front speakers?

I just upgraded my audio system & I have everything for sale.
Front Ken Harrison 4x10 mount with 2 3.5 speakers in it.
Kenwood Cassette player that has been modded to fit the stock 1965-1966 dash hole.
Offbrand 6x9's in the rear.

I was going to EBay everything but I will make you a great deal on whatever you need.
Shoot me an email if you are interested in any of the stuff I have for sale.

Here is what I did to my car. (Audio buffs will cringe at some of the things I did, but please be gentle on me).
I wanted a stock looking interior with good sound.
I made a mounting plate & put a Pioneer DEH 3900 in the glove box.
I installed an IR repeater under the dash so I can use the remote control with the glove box door closed.

I decided to keep the stock dash location so I made a plate & installed 2 4" Infinity Kappas there. (The audio buffs just cringed). They are mountedsid by sideso there is no seperation up front. I will probably upgrade later to custom kick panels with 6" componets, but for now I am fine.

Since I had the bad front location I figured I had to have rear fill.I found a GREAT deal on a pair of Infinity Kappa 6x8s so I put them in the package tray. I put plain looking grills over them, painted the interior color so they look like a factory option.

I'm not trying to win any competitions, I just need to rock out sometimes.
I put a 1966 AM radio in the dash, so to the casual obsever it looks like a regular 1966 interior.
I like it.
Now I need an amp or two, a sub or two and a high power alternator.
I think my Kappas need more power to them so an amp will be going in soon.
It's not the best, but I like it.

PReal, I could really use some help on picking out amps & subs, so can you give me some advice.
My front speakers are 50W RMS& back are 100W RMS. I don't need car shaking Hip Hop bass, just some good Rock & Roll bass. I figured an enclosure right behind the rear seat would work?
Any thoughts?

It really all depends on your budeget. How much do you want to spend?

Here are some options for your speakers....

http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2841(Cheap looks, but good performance) $68
http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/4364(Better all around) $179
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=46(Excellent Value) $245
http://woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuse...roduct_ID=4282(Nice as well) $249
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5451(Really Nice) $599
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3747(The cleanest 50watts you will ever hear) $1125

As you can see, it depends on what you want to spend. A sub is pretty easy. If you want subs, sub amp, and highs amp, shoot me a total budget and I can make some recommendations.

Thanks for the quick response.
I guess I need amp for all speakers & sub with an amp.

Should I use a 50W x 4 amp for all the speakers or should I use 50x2 for front & 100x2 for rear?
Do I need a seperate amp for the sub?
Also what sub wattage do I need to be around for my system?

My speakers are 50W front & 100W rear (all are 2 ohms).

I would say budget wise under 400 (under 300 would be fantastic).

Thanks a lot for your help!

I see one link you sent was a McIntosh amp.I listened to a home McIntosh system a few years back. WOW!!!! It did cost almost as much as a restored MACH I Mustang though!!

2 ohm speakers makes this pretty easy. Really, I would buy a single 4 channel amp to power your mids/highs. When you get those 6.5's in the kicks, I would get some decent componets (around $100) and power them by bridging the 4 channel amp. I would not recommend amplifiying your rears with more power then your fronts unless you are the type of guy that goes to a concert and turns around backwards. If you like to face the stage at a concert, you would rather have the majority of your music coming from the front.

If you have $400, I would go ahead and do this with your current speaker setup...
Mids/highs amp = http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2218$82 ( Watch your gains on those fronts!)
Sub = http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31$100 (Dual 4 ohm version)
Sub Amp = http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2553$84
Wiring Kit = http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/3369$25
Build your own sub box to ED specs = $30 at home depot

And you will still have around $75 left over to start getting your front channel together or to buy beer while you install.

If you would consider getting some 6.5 kick panels that could hold some decent speakers, you could have a great setup for around $100 more for speakers. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5207(Great Speakers, will destroy anything in their price range)

Those all look good to me.

On the Profie 740 amp I have a question. It is 90 W per channl & the front speakers are 60W. Do I turn the gain down on the amp for those speakers so i don't overpower them?

I love this:
"I would not recommend amplifiying your rears with more power then your fronts unless you are the type of guy that goes to a concert and turns around backwards. If you like to face the stage at a concert, you would rather have the majority of your music coming from the front."
That made it easy to understad!

Any recomendations on the sub enclosure?

And yes I probably will upgrade to the CDTs in the kicks next year.

I don't even run rear speakers in any of my cars!

Setting the gain low will help you from overpowering your speakers. Believe it or not, underpowering speakers is usually what blows them.

If you want pretty good volume I would build a ported box to elemental design's specs. It should get plenty loud and still sound good.
