Hood ornament
I recently became the proud owner of a 67 convertible. It has a Pony hood ornament? Is this after market? The car has been is abarn for almost 20 years. I would post better picture but I can't get it to resize to correct size...tips?

RE: Hood ornament
Porbabally not, I had just never seen one. I did do a search and found a thread talking about this before. I will see what direction I go with the car and then make up my mind. I wonder what other weird options were avaliable.

RE: Hood ornament
I'm sure these were a Ford part. Not likely to have been put on in the assembly line but were sold and installed at the dealerships. I have also seen some fender oriniments that look like turmsignal indicators on some of the 5's and 6's. It may have some Ford markings on it somewhere. One thing is for sure, these are very rare these days.

RE: Hood ornament
According to the 1967 Mustang Illustrated Facts Book and the 1964 1/2 - 1973 Mustang Recognition Guide, you could get a lighted grille emblem, lighted side panel emblems, and a TV (Didn't know that!) in a '67. There is no mention of a hood orn. on any model. This does NOT mean that this item was not avail. at dealers and parts stores, that remains a Q. Evil is prob. right, it may have been avail. from ford as a aftermarket acc., I would keep it, but I woud not leave it on the car if it were me - your choice.

I think it looks tacky (but hey, Im used to all non-ornament hoods) so take it off and keep it.
DanK, I saw a mustang in my area with a lighted corral, how rare is that?
