that kit will prolly get you to around the 200 hp range if its stock at the moment. a stock 289 c code is somewhere around 175 at the wheels. that kit wont get you to 400. and that kit your talking about is mostly top end.
So, you think that a performance intake, cam, heads, and roller rockers will only give you 25HP?
OK...........
Top end is where the power is made. Heads and Cam being the primary area where replacing stock components with performance variants will have the MOST benefit.
A stock bottom end is not essentially much different to a "performance" bottom end. ARP bolts, I beam rods etc don't atually increase power. They are used to strengthen the bottom end to be able to cope with the power the top end produces.

i said 2 hundred range. not a flat 200. and 750 cfm is way too big for a 289, you;ll be spewing gas out your tail pipes

The stock pistons will look like you took a blow torch to them in a couple of weeks with NOS.
Your call but it is a certain it will go boom. Stock 5.0 had forged pistons as do most later model engines
Yours does not.

I recomend driving your car with the current 289 andbuilding a 302 or 331 on the side... then when your drivetrain can take it, drop that bad boy in there.

yeah i agree with david. start building a motor on the side and put your money into that. this way you have a car to drive and your still in the process of beefing it up.

331 or 347 are the most popular. I would say go with a 331 roller block, cuz you really won't miss the extra 16 cubes, but it will be alot more durable.

Yep forget the Nitrous (I hate calling NOS). Unless you build your engine with it in mind, and have a professional setup with automatic timing reduction, pressure control, and feul control, you will go BOOM.
Have you done a compression test to see what sort of condition your motor is in currently. Putting that edelbrock top end kit on a tired bottom end will not give you the results you want, and if things such and big end and main bearings are on their way out, they will be on their way out much much faster with more power.
As for carbies, the 600 should be plenty. I'd even recommend the 570 street avenger. You may miss out on a couple of HP at the very top end, but torque and throttle response everywhere else will more than make up for it.
