Default too much pressure in the cooling system?

you guys think it could be a clogged radiator or heater core. it did it a little the other day once the car got running (temp gauge was fine, so overheating isnt an issue). i thought maybe it was a bad radiator cap so i bought a new 16 lb. cap and still its doing it. so, could something be clogged? god i hope that could cause this because otherwise it screams bad head gasket (how is that possible the motor is brand friggen new)

Did you look for bubbles in the coolant while it is running?

if it were a clogged heater core..try your heat..is it good and hot??? also feel the inlet hose vs the out let on the heater core.....I like to use a infared temperature gun...that'll give you an accurate reading...........not sure about the past history of your radiator but if it were working fine with a previous high hp set up I wouldn't think that was the cause.......now on the other hand...it depends on the block and year heads used but some combos ..and it'll say right in the fel-pro head gasket kit you buy on the little white piece of paper it comes with like if using a late model block and early style heads I remember reading that you have to punch a steam hole in the gaskets pending on what combo used or overheat/over pressurization of the cooling system will occur...I've just always used early style parts and gasket together and late model blocks/heads together so I never actually had to perform the mod...don't know if that's the case for you but I remember reading that on the fel-pro gasket instructions I bought.

That explains some things I didnt know about my motor.
My 289 has Gt 40 heads on it I just put some felpro head gaskets on there and went.
That ones a need to fix for me also.
The motor didnt over heat just seemed to have a lot of pressure and didnt circulate very fast.

Yeah, any time you do head switcharoos on Fords you have to be careful, they changed stuff over the years(stupid Ford). At least you didn't put the head gaskets on backwards though, Chevy guys tend to do that a lot when they build Fords. They say "front" for a reason. Get those new Edelbrock Pro Port Performer RPM heads and tell me how they work!!!
