ok i got under my wheel and can see that. so its basiclyl like the wire plug you just squeeze it? now what about the bulb in the heater controll box. how do i get that out? i show it in the picture

btw. if my spedometer isnt working do you think its just not hooked up tight enough? what should i check? could it be the actual gauge? thecable is connected pretty firmly it seems.

Just so it is on the record, if you are going to leave those wirenuts that I will assume the PO put in, you should tape them as well so that the vibrations don't loosen them up so they fall off over time.

ps: the light wont budge on the heater box. should i just take some plyers to it and tug?

as far as the speedo wire. if you confirmed its plugged into your dash gauge, check the other end and make sure its connected to the tranny even if it is, pull it out and make sure there is a gear on the end of it previous owner may of just attatched it to the tranny with no gear.

also to remove the steering column cover. some earlier said there are two screws. i dont see them. i have a 67, i cant imagine on the 69 or 70 its different. ill double check and look again for the screws, can someone post a pic of them. thanks

all you had to do to get the column up is force it over the hump of the steering itself. i got it all out and cleaned now. i took out the gauges and took off all the blue covers. they were all disformed from the heat. now all i have to do is clean out my dash and order the new led bulbs. and ill be set.

yeah the plastic column cover on your steering column itself has about an inch of play but you need to push it up a little more to get the gauge cluster out. so what you do is you push it over the hump and itll expand. then you can pull out your cluster. it takes a little wobbling.
