Default NPD front disc conversion ?'s

Hello everyone, I'm looking at doing the front disc brake conversion in the next probably month or two. It looks like I'm going to get the set from NPD or buy directly from SSBC, which are the ones in their catalog. It says they require 14" tires, which I have, but the SSBC website says they need a minimum of 14x7. The rims I was looking at are 15x6.5. Why does the width of the tire matter and therefore why can't I use these? I'm also assuming that means anything larger will not be a problem. Has anyone used any other disc conversions (if there are any) in the same price range and what did you think? Thanks for any help.

Dont buy these. They are a good product, no doubt, but from what I have heard they are over priced and hard to install. Get some from PA Pony Parts. Debbie is a good woman and will take care of you. Ther kts are CONSIDERABLY cheaper, comparable in quality, and nclude a step-by-step photo illustrated guide on install.

64-66 Power Disc Brake Kit (Auto Trans. Only) $895.00
64-66 Power Disc Brake Kit w/cross-drilled slotted rotors $1020.00

These kits require 15” or larger wheels or 14” disc brake wheels.

If you look at NPDs catalog, most of thers are from manual drum to manual disc... whch u may as well not do to begin with; you won't notice much difference.

Whatever you order, go through PA pony parts. They are small and care more about the customer. Trust me. I used to work at NPD.

Save yourself a lot of money and go to www.discbrakeswap.com their kit is top notch and only about $525. You will need to go to 15" wheels, which apparently you already plan to, but otherwise it is a complete kit.

I did the SSBC conversion NPD and others carry the same kit but the prices are defently not the same. I got mine from http://vamustang.com/catalog/shop/ about $100.00 cheaper then NPD and was easy to install. By the way I am running 14 X6 wheels with no problems.
