mechanical oil gauge parts?
anyone know if the piece is available that clamps the plastic hose onto the fitting where it ties into the block. mine is leaking and i dont wanna buy a new gauge to fix it[>:]

sweet. it didnt really look like a ball but it is a compression fitting. its actually flat on the back and then tapers down on the front. like a cone, with a hole thru the middle for the plastic hose.
i gotta return a compression gauge today so i'll see what autozone has. btw, with the motor cold and the throttle closed (directions said to hold throttle open?) i got 125 lbs. how can i convert that into a compression ratio? its gotta be possible somehow right?

10 friggen dollars from napa or autozone, went to a local parts store that never has any customers even though they have everything ran by some old lady who doesnt wanna be there...... she had JUST the ferrel (sp?) i needed for $1.44

About your compression: No, you can't determine compression ratio by the cranking pressure. Sorry.
However, if you know your head's chamber volume, deck height of the piston, and the volume of your piston reliefs, I can plug it into my spreadsheet quickly and give you a number (bore and stroke are kinda useful, too).
