I think your best bet is to get a fiberglass one and just have a shop fit it for you. Here is a link to one from mustangs plus:

I think you can find them cheaper then that though thru virginia classic or mustangs unlimited or something.

Ahh dang, i was hoping it'd fit a '66

i think i'll end up getting a body shop to fit mine
what's the difference in hinges for a fiberglass hood as opposed to a steel hood?

do springs designed for a fiberglass hood change the way it fits? could those be what's causing my hood bow

I have bought from several different suppliers and been most pleased with Branda especially, when it comes to fiberglass. Here is my choice for a hood that will keep its shape when you put it in the sun, or use springs. Branda part # SFH3A full steel renforced fiberglass hood. Its well worth the extra money. Good luck.

Alright, and even though they're shelby hoods they'll fit my coupe?

or when it says shelby is it refering solely to the scoop?

The shelby hood will fit your coupe. I just painted my fastback, and installed the shelby hood with a steel frame, and vacuum formed. It had a few "dimples" where the hood was bonded to the frame, but other than that, dimensionally it was perfect. I love it. I bought it from Virgina Mustang....

The 5 and 6's are OK with no modification to the front of the car (may require hood pins though), as they are no size differences (length X width). When you go to the 7 and 8's, your car will need a nose job as the Shelby hoodsare about 4" longer that a stockFord hood and requiesa different front end.This may be what is confusing you.

the link that i gave you is made to fit a 66. the only reason it wouldnt fit is cuz its fiberglass and those are known not to work right. check virginia classic mustangs, they might have the steel reenforced one.

I have bought fiberglass body parts from a variety of Mustang venders and the key is getting a body man with fiberglass experience. Mustang venders & parts:
Hood = Mustangs Unlimited
Trunk = Maier Racing
Front valance = Mustangs Plus
Front & Rear Bumpers = Unlimited Products
