Default Engine and Transmission not connecting!?

Put this over on fordsix, but I need to get this figured out really quick.

I put the transmission and the engine together, and we got it all bolted up. Everything was great, then my friend noticed the studs protruding from the torque converter, which bolt into the flywheel, appear to be too long. If the engine was turned, it would hit the block-plate.

What should I do?? The flexplate is torqued on the block, the little ring thing that goes on the flexplate is on there as well; The converter is pushed in ALL the way to the transmission. Am I missing something???

oh, it's a 200ci, c4 trans.

Yea, it's all the same stuff, exept for the block. The block is the same though - same numbers. Trans and converter were rebuilt.

well if everything is the same it should fit without any problems did you manually crank the engine over with the flywheel bolted on to it, and get the holes on the flywheel to match up to the holes on the torque converter? im thinking you possibley dont have the flywheel on right?

Well it's actually a flexplate (auto) and it lined up with the 4 studs in the TC. We then put 3 of the 4 nuts on, and realized it was sticking out too far. If we try to turn the engine over, it will gouge into the block or blockplate. (Probably just the blockplate, because it's only like 1/8" thick, but nonetheless, it should clear it with ease)

Sorry, I know it's hard to explain. Here are a few pictures:
Pic 1
Pic 2
Pic 3

Pic 2 just shows that the transmission is fully bolted and torqued to the block

The only thing i can think of is that possibly your torque converter was not installed all the way onto the input shaft of the tranny did you put it in all the way?

OK, if I understand you correctly, you haven't completely installed your torque converter. I noticed this when I put my rebuilt C4 in. Chevy usually has a two drop, yet the C4 has three drops on the torque converter. simply put, install the converter on the input shaft (first drop), turn the converter until it drops again (second drop), keep turning, and it should drop a third time. The other option might be theflex plate is installed backwards, making the torque converter closer to the block. The only reason I remember thisis because it completely surprized me when the converter dropped that last half inch.

Is there supposed to be a spacer between the crankshaft and the flexplate?

I never separated our 6 from the tranny, but the 351 I built did have a spacer....
