leaf spring replacement

I've tried it both ways and I like the torch best. It sounds kinda dangerous, but if you have a squirt bottle of water, it no problem!

Yea, a torch would work I suppose, but you'll encounter the same problem a cutting wheel offers. Molten rubber bushing dripping everywhere and a hell of a black smoke cloud. Cutting wheel was painful, sprayed molten rubber up the arm [8D]

Mine came right out last time I got at them. You'd be amazed what an impact gun can do.

took me about 2 hours to do it by myself, with air tools, and thats with my my neighbor distracting me. so like baddog671 said as long as the bolts arnt seize up it will by easy, now putting new ones on i still dont know how hard that is my new suspension is delayed for a week.

Lol, I know how you feel oval, I was doing mine the same time you did yours. Took me 3 days off n on. Would have been a bit faster if I had the right tools. Impact gun is useless if the metal sleeve is seized to the bolt, it will just spin in the hole but not back...

ok i just got around to doing the back suspension over, i took everything out, grinded down all the metal. put on a thick layer of rust paint, then sprayed it with black rust spray paint. looks real nice, the first pic is my g/f touching up a small spot with a wire wheel, the second pics shows the difference from the rust paint, and then final coat of rust spray paint, and the last pic is how it looked before and then after a first coat of paint.

hahaha we are going back to my shop today to finish up the rearend and start taking apart the front suspension. i will have more pics later tonight. ill probably start a new thread since it has nothing to do with the leaf spring replacement anymore.
