Default engine bling - a coupla pics

those of you who have been around for a while would remember my obsession with Tefba radiator filters (especially for those sticking a new alum rad in the car). The only thing wrong with them is they are ugly...so my mate Dave found a nicer looking one. Billet alum, pic doesnt do it justice, but you'll get the idea

That looks nice, very nice fabrication work!

Is that the 408 with the "issues"...

4reboy, is your car running yet? Fit that sucker before you get started cos your engine that has been sitting around is a sludge factory!

Salik, glad you like it! It was your post i was thinking of but couldnt find it.

racin66 - the initial build should be about 580hp, with potential for another 120 or so with a cam and carb change. I'm looking for low and mid range power initially as the brakes and suspension are not up to whats already there let alone more. (one of the reasons that I was so pissed about the screw up was having to blow the brake budget on the repairs)

the elec water pump removes the need for a belt around the water pump. you can leavethe alternatorin the orig position and just change the belt or you can lower it (therefore contributing tolowering center of gravity) and fit a shorter belt (with less side load on the crank and less likely to fly off at high revs.) I went a step further and gotsome billet pulleys made up for both.It sounds like nit picking, buttotal weight of the car and the best possible weight distributionto each corner of the carwill become more critical as the car is developed.

JMD, I wish i could claim it was my fabrication work!!! The same guy who is assisting with the Mustang suspension did it all...check out the torque strap he made.

The engine mount right behind the fuel pump, where did you get that or is it custom? I don't see one on the other side so I assume it is to keep the engine in place during hard acceleration. At first I tought you were running an engine plate until I looked at the other side.

its custom

most guys over here racing 351 derivatives will either mod engine mounts or add a torque strap to prevent engine mounts from breaking. I am running a shaker as well so a broken engine mount at high revs could lead to significant underhood carnage.
