1967 with v6?

RE: 1967 with v6?
I appreciate all the input. I decided against the mod motor becouse the return vs work doesn't work out. If I had the money I would put in an EFI 5.0. and leave the C4.
I figure the rebuild would cost ~500-1000 and air conditioning ~1100. I would also potentially use the AOD ~400 and the front seats ~300.
The cost of the V6 is free my labor is free. Power is not an issue becouse this will end up being primarily driven by my wife. The V6 should require the same basic wiring work as an EFI V8.
Of course if anyone wants to buy my 1996 mustang with about 92k on it I am only asking $2500.

If your '67 has the original motor....keep it original. If its not the original motor...just rebuild what you have or go bigger. Dont downsize to a V-6 that will cost you a lot of work. Performance will be worse than in a Fox body because that '67 is about 4000 pounds.

I'm actually looking for a replacement 3.8 for my 96 which has almost 270,000 miles on it now. $2500 is way too much for a 'salvage' car with that many miles on it.
The only way I would consider swapping it into an early car is if it had less than 10,000 miles on it. I'd swap in the whole front K member and steering if I did go that way.

The 3.8 from a 96 Mustang would bolt in without much difficulty. The original 289 motor mounts will bolt right up to the block of the 3.8 I know this because I swapped in a 5.0 into a T-Bird that had a 3.8, they use the same motor mounts and tran bolt pattern. The AOD is a nice swap too. You'll need to shorten the drive shaft and a new crossmember and shifter linkage. All available at places like Mustangs Plus. The EFI conversion would be identical to a 5.0 EFI swap, again I know this as the swap I did had the wiring and computer being the same type. All in all if I were you, I would go for it. If it makes your car whole and your wife loves it, great! Not all conversions are for more speed. The engine is shorter so a custom shroud and hoses may be your biggest challenge. Once converted to a 3.8 it would be real easy to swap a 5.0 later. You don't bucher anything like a 4.6 swap. I personally would try it if I were in your position having a 3.8 already. I do like more HP but if I were building a reliable car for my wife a 3.8 that runs good would be okay. Good luck either way.
