whats this part called...distributor part

Default whats this part called...distributor part



the part on the left that holds the plug wires,...

i got my motor today and about 5 of the rings were broke off this part,...i am hoping they did not find their way into any part of the engine,...GRRRRR

where would i be able to locate one of these parts?

that's just the wire clamp. no idea what it's called. No way that made it into the engine unless you were feeding it to your engine.

Looks like a MSD distributor. If it is contact them, they'll be able to help you.
as far as I know that thing is only there for aesthetics and is of no practical use. never had one, so can't tell

I think they make special plug boots that lock into that cap and hold everything in tight, but I have no idea who makes them or what the model number is.

That is an MSD cap and the part in question is attached to the cap with the 2 screws holding the wires firmly in place.
On a street car perhaps not needed,but on any type of race car subject to violent acceleration ,erratic idle,or rapid cornering the extra insurance of not having a wire pop out at the wrong time is worth it.
