turndowns before the axel.

amazing sound.

i think i might make mine into a "dummy" exhaust from the axel back. i think im gonna put some turndowns on my flowmasters and then keep my piping and GT tips coming out the GT valence that way ill have the sound i want but the stock original look.

does this sound retarded or ok? or i might just replace my flowmasters with magnaflows cause everyone has flowmasters and the magnaflows have a deeper tone to em. flowmasters are more throaty.

Aussie.... Thanks for digging that good stuff up for me! I was pretty blown away by the selection in that A1 site. The prices seem a little steep but I imagine you get what you pay for. Actually, I am assuming the prices were "each" not for a pair... If its a pair, its not bad at all.... I will have to look into that. I am gonna have to give this one some more thought. I really like the second ones you posted above! I am running dual Flowmaster 40s right now, so I suppose I could get a muffler shop to fab out the rest of the way, including any tips I supply...... It doesnt matter that the tips are Magnaflows.... right?
Thanks again for getting me to look beyond the basic cj pony tips!!

...turndowns before the axle... Thats what I got right now! haha, damn LOUD!!! I wonder how much my sound would change by adding these tips....

This got me looking a bit more at tips and I really like these! Borla Dual Square Angle-Cut Intercooled Exhaust Tip. Very sharp looking IMO though a tad on the expensive side

i got my exhaust done at a shop called rpm muffler i think. its in hayward on A street. down the street from vic hubbard. ask for dave(?) i think his name is.

i supplied my mufflers and whatever tubing i had and he supplied the rest and did an awsome job for $200!!

just bring what you have to him and he'll get it to look nice. he used the prebent tubes for going over my axel. check him out.

Those Magnaflow stainless tips are awesome. My roommate got a pair for his T/A just before he wrecked it, so they're still sitting on a shelf. They're definitely very well made.

I hate dumps. All they do is bounce the exhaust sound around under the car, and consequently through the cabin. I like to be able to hear myself think when I drive. Full tailpipes means you get less sound in the cab, but just about the same behind the car.

^ thats cause you're probably an old old guy who likes originality and comfort

im a kid so i like the beastly roar of turndowns and the louder it is, the better [8D]

what i did was, i ordered my exhaust parts and tubing from the guy i used to work for and then fabbed up a quick custom exhaust so i could get it to the muffler shop so i didnt have to drive all the way there with open headers. so i just ran 2 short pipes from my headers into my mufflers and hung em up and left it like that. so u could hear and FEEL the rumble from inside the car. it was sweet.

I'm 24, and I like mods, but tasteful mods. I can hear my Hushpower's just fine while I'm cruising on the freeway, over the engine noise, enough to require that I crank my stereo to hear it. I definitely don't need it any louder inside.
