Hi Adrenolin,
---> I might just got with added the 5" AutoMeter tack to start
I believe you have to replace all or nothing as you'll have to get rid of the full back of the cluster or am I wrong here?

Has anyone had any experience with TPI gauges? http://www.tpigauges.com/ Saw themadvertised in Hot Rod mag. I am partial to the programmable speedo set. The price is right, just wondering if anyone knew anything about the company. I am looking to replace the sweeping speedo gauge set in my 65.

I not familiar with the dash gauge setup in the 67/68's but, is there an aftermarket panel for aftermarket gauge mounts?

I would say that you should not go cheap on any component....I have tried it in the past and have been disappointed and ended up paying more money the second time to get it right. Autometer guages are used quite a bit and have a good rep...JME Enterprises makes a cluster with these guages already installed with a wire harness to connect to stock car wiring (expensive at $1000, but cuts down on a lot of fabricating on the installers part) I have a VDO tach (mounted on column) and VDO mechanical oil pressure and water temp guages (located under the dash by the radio) and am happy with it..but eventually I am going to buy the JME kit.

you guy are going to laugh at me but whats the difference between all of them? Im looking to install aftermarket gauges, i saw some at autozone for about $100 for oil, temp, volts, fuel, and speedo dont remember what brand they are. i was tempted to buy those later one but now you guy are making me think. also whats the difference between electrical and mechanical? i personally like the white ones the numbers stand out more.

Electronic speedo is driven by a pick up on the output of the trans. Mechanical is cable driven.
