The grill bars are different than yours mopar. Yours look more flat and on this one they are angled outwards. So maybe its 67-68? I'm going to look at it in a few minutes.

RE: The Mustang's younger cousin...
My first car was a '67 cougar. It was a strange beast that I found partially submerged in water where it had been for quite a while. It was a '67 Cougar GT-R. What the hell is that you say??
The car came out of the factory with a 390 and a 3 speed standard. It had twin 4 barrel carbs and some other very strange things. One of the strangest was the exaust. It had a "duel" exaust which had a regular muffler out the back but also had a Y pipe set up so I could flip the exaust to come out in front of the back wheels. It also had a set up that would dump fuel into, and ignite the exaust! The car had two fuel tanks, had a stripped down interior, and had holes drilled all over the damn place in the frame. It was just the craziest thing I'd ever seen.
Unfortunatly, the car was severly decayed and I was a young broke teenager. I started buying up other '67 Cougars and eventually had 7 of them. They were great cars and a lot of fun, but nobody was making parts for themat the time. Eventually I got sick of hunting for parts and moved on to Mustangs where everything was readily available.

My first car was a '65 Mustang, I6, 3-Speed with A/C and bench seat. Hated the lack of performance.
Second car was a '68 Cougar with a 289, I loved it but wrecked it the next day racing a Monte Carlo. That was a bad day.
