Default in need of advice

hey guys, first of all thanks alot, this forum has helped me through alot of the question i had as a relatively new mustang owner.

Iwanted to know which carburetor i should get for my car, something around the 350 dollar price range would be best.

oh and my car is a 68 and i believe the previous owner said it had a 302 engine but not sure. thx in advance.

dont know the size but the person i bought it from said some thing was wrong with the carb

ive read alot about carburetors , since i always work on 4 cylinder hondas and toyotas but when i saw my friends 67 mustang i was a convert, and really think they are much simpler but most my friends say they are inferior to fuel injection, i think they are great.

sorry for another carb post
*hangs head down in shame*

Why do you think you need a new carb?

you could just rebuild the carb for starters. not that expensive

Have you attempted to simply adjust the carb?

Increase the idle speed a little bit?
What RPM is the car idling at cold?
What RPM is the car idling at warm?

What is your initial timing set at?
Is there a large RPM drop from when in park to when you put it into gear?

What was the last time you gave the car a simply tune up?

Welcome to the forum!... Nice looking Mustang!

Or,,, you could buy one of these Edelbrock carbs and possibly get some change back from your $350....

There will beplenty of good opinions that will run contrary to what I am recommending here, but IMO for a good solid, low maintenance, easy setup, economicalreplacement carb, these are hard to beat.

These usually work pretty damn good right out of the box with minimal tuning.

Also consider that your issue may not be with the carburator at all.... but it does kinda sound like it is..

there is a huge drop in rpm and the screws are adjusted (according to the mechanic[:@]), i tried adjusting them myself but with no luck.

just gave it a tune up.

thanks JMD for the links that edelbrock 1801 is screaming impulse buy
