It should be a crime to "quiet" a v-8 down. Punishable by revocation of ownership......[:'(]

Don't ask why, but I was wondering if anyone has ever seen or heard of a high performance, silentmuffler? High flow and minimum noise is key here. Could be coupled to a turbo engine.
WHY?

Don't worry, there will be a cutout of sorts.

Back in the day (73 or so) I put mufflers behind the headers on my 69 Mach I for a while. I had had to have them welded on because they kept blowing off, but the car was relatively quiet. In fact it had kind of a nice sound. I also tried running open headers on it for while...around 5 minutes I think.

well the turbo will help silence the sound a lot, then youd probably just need some 3 chamber flows or something afterwards maybe with the glass packs in front?

As I have aged, quiet is nice and drone gets annoying, On my 408 stroker Im going to install my ford racing dual mode mufflers soon and I am going to install race bullets or resonators in front of them, It should be nice and mellow in normal driving and cruise but at around 4-6k it will still bark. I have borlas right now and they are nice, they are not real loud in normal driving but sound like a nascar at wot, sometimes I like it but after driving a new stang and vette it is really nice to have a ton of power without a ton of noise, mines a vert so I have wind noise as well. I agree, if its a turbo eng the turbo really quiets the exhaust.....

i laughed sorry. but why would you want a quiet stang?
i guess he just does. later this summer i'll also be looking for a quiet exhaust for my 8 cylinder stang. something i can listen to music in without HAVING to cut it up too loud.

explanation: i currently own 3 cars i plan to keep. a 66 mustang, a 70 vw and a 74 mgb. if i want one of them to be quiet the mustang is really my only choice. it may be my only choice for a civilized car.

Just install a stock single outlet exhaust from the same year. My 66 v8 can actually sneak up on people, I did it today to a guy standing in the parking lot smoking.

Yes, I am saving up to fix that problem
