Default Rack & Pinion with Longtube and Clutch???

I have the ol' motor out and the new motor is almost finished with the blueprinting phase. After I got everthing out, I noticed a lot of slop in the steering which explains the wheel movement I have been feeling. I almost bought a whole new orginal style power steering setup and then remembered Rack and Pinion. I started doing some investigation. I have been doing a lot with Total Control Products so gave them a call. Their setup will not work with longtube headers or Granado spindles. Called Flaming River, but do not want to change the steering column. Called Unisteer and they have issues hitting the clutch linkage but say it should work. I tried to look into Randall's Rack but their website is so crummy it makes me scared of them.

Any thoughts? Any suggestions?

Requirements
1969 Mustang Fastback
351 W
Hooker Longtube Headers
Four Speed Toploader
Granda Disc Spindles

have you tried RRS?

http://www.rrs-online.com/rack&pinionproducts.php

they suggest possible issue with longtubes and mechanical clutches.

I have headman long tube headers, JMC hydraulic clutch and a Steeroids rack. It all works like a charm. No clearance problems and you can use Granada spindles. Just let them know what you have when ordering. I was originally going to use a cable clutch for my T5 but ran into all kinds of clearance problems. The cable would clear the headers but had to be routed right through the steering shaft. That wasn't going to work so I went hydraulic. Now I am glad I did. The clutch pedal is easy to engage.

I don't know about a toploader if you are using stock linkage. Have you considered swapping to a hydraulicTO bearing setup? You may need to if a rack won't work.

Headman headers may not be an issue but everyone says Hooker long tubes are. The suggested fix from most all the manufacturers is get a manifold or shorties. Why have performance steering and less than performance exhaust????? The headers are just half the problem. The clutch bar, for lack of another word, will not work with the intermediate shaft required for R&P. If anyone who has a toploader and headers that has made the Rack & Pinion install succesfully, please let me know how you did it.

I have not talked with RRS but their web site says will not work with most long tube or custom headers. Only shorties and some tri-Ys. I guess this may be a compromise thing, but you would not think it would have to be.
