Default Help with my sloppy automatic transmission

I have a 68 6 cylinder automatic. Here's my problem: Park is the only position on my shifter that is accurate. I need to go down past reverse for it to actually go into reverse and the same continues further down.....by the time I get to drive the shifter is all the way down to like where 1st gear would be. Is it worth replacing the shifter bushings or should I look at something else? Thanks.

Default RE: Help with my sloppy automatic transmission

Since shifter bushings are only a couple of bucks, I'd do that first. Afterwards, ensure that the shifter rod is adjusted correctly.
