performance brake pads

performance brake pads
bout to purchase the CSRP kelsey hayes kit and i want to get some better pads. Not everyone on this board subscribes to the Ettore Bugatti theory that cars are "meant to go not stop", so i'm sure someone has used a performance pad before.
i guess what i'm after is something that will withstand spirited driving through the hills and the odd auto-x type track day.
any suggestions?

RE: performance brake pads
I don't know if Porterfield makes pads, but I'm very happy with theshoes I've got for the rear. Between the SSBC discs in the front and the Porterfield shoes in the back, I'm very happy with my brakes, manual too. They came highly recommended from one of the stang shops here in town, the owner hasveterantrack time. They're not that good when cold, but greatonce they warm up.

RE: performance brake pads
I was wondering this too. Like I said in my other post, I am about to install my CSRP kit plus a power brake booster. If I wanna upgrade something, or replace pads or rotors in a year nad I go into Advance, NAPA, or Murrays, what do I ask for? For the granada? or just for my year Mustang?

RE: performance brake pads
Thanks guys,
Dennis doesnt offer more aggressive pads for the KH 4 spot calipers.
rmodel, my rotors would be smaller but i think the caliper is the same. Any chance you could find a part number on those hawks? The OEM number is D11.

RE: performance brake pads
i cant find any hawk numbers but EBC makes them in a few different series....
DP21157 is the greenstuff series (roadsport)
DP31157C is the redstuff series (superstreet)
DP41157R is the yellowstuff series (ultra high friction track & street)
im pretty sure alot of the 05+ guys use the greenstuff pads, as they are about the equiv. to the hawk hps pads (a good streetable pad that wont make lots of dust and is much better than stock)

i've used greenstuff on my dd subaru. better than factory and good initial bite but fade quick under repeated punishment. we used redstuffs on a tarmac rally MGF. Disasterous on that and it only weighs 2300lb with 2 crew and a full tank. They might be ok for something like the mustang tho as i wont be driving it on the raggedy edge.
I did a bit more searching and Porterfield do make some...more expensive but maybe worht a look.

RE: performance brake pads
I'll probably be testing out the factory KH-style pads that come with the CSRP kit this weekend. Local car club is going on a crusie, and most of the other cars are lighter imports (RX-7/8's, BMW 325, Evo IX, etc), so I'm going to have to catch up on the straights...which means I'm going to have to stop a lot faster. We'll see how things work out, and I'll report back Sunday night
