Default Body Panels- Factory tooling or not?

The front valance on my car is damaged and a friend offered to paint a new one to match for free. So I went shopping for a valence and every place I check has two versions of the same part. One is replacement and the other is factory tooling. Replacement is about half the price. Anyone had experience buying replacement body panels and has seen a difference between the two?

I would contact the seller and ask what the difference is, I know one of the valances I was looking at had the over all same shape but was *different* looking in the middle where the tag mount is for a 67'. Again I'd contact the retailer and if there are differences ask for pics or what their return policy is, incase you get it hold it up to the car and don't like it.

As we all know, many aftermarket parts either don't fit properly, or look different from OEM parts. Try going to a used parts site to get an original. Places like this. http://www.carparts.com

I already bought the apron from NPD this morning. Their price was about $40 cheaper than anyone else on the OE tooling. It was very reasonable at $79. I will let you know how it fits.

The new valence arrived in the mail. The box was fine but the part was bent. It must have been defective from the factory. I called NPD and they are sending me another one.

Man, Don't you hate when that happens? I bought a repo rear valence panel and bumper for my dads 67 convertible.( it was his birthday present) for like $130 shipped. They look and fit very well. I was satisfied with it. It wasn't bent either.......
