Mine was way over built as well. The square tubing I used for the posts was from the bunk of a logging truck. I think it was 4"x4"x3/8" it may have even been bigger than that I dont remember. Sure was sturdy though .

Drilling all the holes to make it more adjustable was one of the time consuming parts of the build. I also used a cheap scissor jack as the lifting mechanism rather than spending the money on a hydraulic set up. I didn't figure on my car being on mine as long as it has either. I didn't expect all the damage that I had to replace and I keep changing my build ideas all the time.

If you have the ability, build one yourself. I would expect that you'll have the thing a lot longer than you anticipate, and you can either use it again, or sell it for some extra cash in the end. I would build one for myself if I had to do it again. Man, would that make the job soooo much easier.

I didn't make the height on mine adjustable I just wanted something so I could roll the car on its side so I didn't have to crawl around on the floor. I should have built it a lot sooner than I did, I spent way too much time crawling around under the car.

I found some good plans to build a nice car rotisserie. I have not done the economics yet but may be able to resell it once im done. What do you guys think?

Does any one have a guess on the cost? I will look into it this weekend and let all know. I live in Denver so if anyone has a Steel guy they would like to promote let me know.
