Default Turbo on an I6 200cid

Just a passing thought but here goes.....
One of my students redid his exhaust yesterday and is going to install a turbo in his Civic hatchback (I know......rice rocket) and I got thinking is worth the time and effort to put a turbo on my I6 200 with an Autolite 1100 and a C4? I know about the 4 lug 7.25" rear end issues etc and I plan on a 302 when the I6 gives up the ghost, but what are your thoughts? Can it be done? I teach welding, so the fabrication of parts is not an issue....

Forgot to add, I can get a smaller turbo for around $25.00.

yes it can be done, Ak Miller used to turbo 200 sixes many moons ago, the best way is mill off the 1bbl carb pad and fab an aluminum block to mount a holley 2bbl to the intake, then fab a blow thru turbo to it. I'm sure there is info out there on it. The best way would be to start with an aussie cossflow head though.

WOW!!! Good old Ak Miller. I haven't heard his name in over 40 years! Listen to htwheelz67, it can be done and Clifford Research and Offenhauser make the manifolds for the larger carbs.

A T3/T4 turbo will work for the size engine. I recommend not going over 8psi unless you want to build the motor up. I'm going with an Eaton SC on my 204. Was going to do turbo, but I like the whine of a SC.

Guys,
Thanks for all the info! What can I expect regarding HP increase with 6-8 psi boost with a 200cid? Any issues with the C4 holding up to the increase in power? BA, the idea of a supercharger is intrigueing, but you need to build the motor to handle that much power increase don't you?
Oh to have cubic dollars to dump in to this money pit......I better check out the Clifford site a little closer

It all depends on the PSI you run the turbo or supercharger. The Eaton M90 supercharger is what some people are using. They are also using the paxton and vortec superchargers.

Mustang Mustang Feb 2009 just did a big spread titled "Guide to Six Cylinder Performance". If you don't have access to it P/M me your address and I'll mail it to you. It discusses carbs, headers, cams , etc, etc.

I picked up the Feb issue of Mustang Monthly. A lot of good info in that issue! I will do more research on it while I finish up the bodywork.
Thanks for all ofyour input!
