65/66 grill
did the 66 have a grill ( horse collar) like the 65 or just the horse. I might be getting a 66, then sell the 65 project car.But i like the look of the 65 grill over the 66, and want to switch them. what do you guys think??

RE: 65/66 grill
Not much changed in 1966,but the grille design changed a bit....the 66 models had the running pony inside the corral free-floating on horizontal grille bars. See the difference? The first pic is a 66. Although not a very good pic, the second is my old Yeller 65 which has the mesh background grille as opposed to the bars. I prefer the 65.

RE: 65/66 grill
I have a 68 with a 67 grill and fog lamps. I like the looks of the 67 3D grill with bars so much more that the 68 that I would not switch back no mater what anybody said about me. (Even if what they said was true). When my 67 grill with fog lamps was stolen when I was in college, (allegedly by a so called friend) I went back with he 67 grill again.
My opinion is go with the 65 grill if you like it better. Keep the 66 grill pieces if you should ever have the misfortune to have to sell the car. It should be no surprise that I like the 65 grill over the 66 as well.

RE: 65/66 grill
I used to prefer the '66 grille design over the '65, and the '67 over the '68. But in time I've come to appreciate all of them - and on the proper car. It's one thing to remove everytrhing and run a blank grille; but to purposefully use the wrong year just doesn't look right (to me, anyway).

I know I am a rebel, but:
When you are talking about 65 vs 66 or 67 vs 68, it takes a trained eye to tell the difference. I can only assume that many of these changes were made by the people we look up to at Ford in order to give it a little bit of a different look in order help sails of the new year model.
We are not talking about something major like taking a shaker hood scoop from a 69 or 70 and placing it in the middle of a 67 turn signal hood on a 68 mustang (that was my brothers idea and I like it).
On the other hand, I can see your point. You get use to seeing certain things to together. You work so hard to restore and maintain your mustang and therefore are a little uneasy when someone purposefully mixes theirs up.

Here is what coupe scoops look like (They look like someone put them on BACKWARDS to me!
As opposed to the shelby (68)

I'm out in Tennesse this week and saw this in the parking lot. Thought it was kind of different (in a patriotic, all American flag wavin' king of way )
