Default mini-tubs on a 65-66

without goin bonzi, has any-one done a mini-tub on a 65-66? while I'm in their doin trunk work, I thought it might be a good time to widen the rear tubs. It looks like I can move them inward about 3/4- 1" without messing with the existing leaf spring locations.

That's a nice kit but you can do it for a few bucks if you just splice in a 1"-2" strip in the middle and reuse your stock inner wheelhouse.

I thought about doing it but wasn't sure how it would effect the rear seat fitment.

I'm liking your idea! The only part that worries me is remounting the truck hinges. I'm gonna give this a try.

yeah, i was thinking that would be a lot easier and cheaper, how wide was the strip you welded in?

edit: do you also still have the rear seat?

Im not sure how wide the strip is. It is not the same width all the way. I mounted it flush with the frame rail. Had I had it all to do over again I would buy a new frame rail and move it in a couple more inches. wouldnt take much more work. the trunk is easy. cut it off from the inner wheel well and trim the bottom of it for the wheel well to slide under and re-weld it. Ill take more pictures for you but my car is at the body shop.

rear seat? nope wont fit. has to be narrowed.
