Thanks for the tip. Yeah, I already ordered the basic one but will definately keep it in mind if needed. So you probably think that will fix the problem and not be anything wrong with the alternator?

I am not 100% sure how the charging system works but I know I was having the same issues with the charging system not charging and I assumed it was the alternator so I had my alternator tested and it was good. I replaced the voltage regulator after advice from this forum and it started to charge again.

The voltage regulator energizes the alternator somehow and allows it to charge. I wish I could explain it to you but its not 100% clear to me.

I would have thought the same thing if it was not charging. Mine is charging but just too much. I'm hoping the voltage regulator will fix it tomorrow when I put it in. I'll let everyone know!
