Exclamation 1970 INTAKE MANIFOLD BIG BLOCK - BUT WHAT WAS IT MADE FOR

Can someone please help & tell me exactly what this manifold was made for? I've had this thing for at least 30 some yrs. Got in trade. Here's all i know.

#1 the casting #is DOAM OR DOAH -9425-A, hard to read that 4th digit.
#2 it has HECHO EN MEXICO in a circle, I guess it means "Made in Mexico".
#3 firing order is 13726548
#4 date code is 28A1
#5 as u can see it's a 4 barrel solid big block iron

I read in one of my Mustang Mothly that some Mustang were made in Mexico in the early 70,s, is this one of them!!

Also i found a web Ford decoder that says the 4th digit "H" is eng # an "M" is an SVO#, i don,t know.

Maybe someone with more Ford knowledge than me can tell me what i have!!

I don't know why but i can't post attachment.
Thanks Al

i'd say rather the M (for performance vehicle option). And yes tis thing was fabricated in Mexico. Do you have the fulkl engine or just an intake, or a whole car?

The casting date you mention 3rd letter is a 0 (zero), not an 'O' (letter)
first number is decade (D=197x), 2nd number the year (0-9). so can't be a letter.
Early 70s design but built

your date code is wrong as well.
it's 1st digit year (0-9), 2nd month (A-M), 3rd and 4th day (01-31)
so that 2nd digit 8 might be B for february and that 3rd digit A should be 0,1,2 or 3

DOAM OR DOAH -9425-A

D=1970’s
0=last digit (1970)
A=Ford (Generic)/Galaxie
M=Performance/Special Vehicle Operations (Incl Holman Moody)
or
H=Climate Control (1972-up)
More than likely M

9425=Manifolds, clamps, etc.
A=Not sure but I want to say Galaxie

I don’t know enough about this part to know what it actually is but someone else on here may know more about it.

If it is a DOAM, it is a 1970 Galaxie SVO part. "D0" means 1970. "A" means a part from a Galaxie. "H" in the forth position means Climate control division, I think. "M" is SVO Performance Operations. I would bet is a "M". So based on that, I would think it is an intake from a 1970 Ford Galaxie. I cannot find the specific part number DOAM -9425-A anywhere, but 9425-A often refers to various types of intakes.

Oh...Devious, you beat me to it.

Probably a 351c intake if it has big ports. IIRC, 390-428's all have the same firing order as the early 302. 351w and 351c share that firing order. If there's no water neck on it then it's a 351c.

BTW, ford didnt start SVO until 1980.

Unless you can find the entire part number in a database, it is going to be hard to know what engine it is for just from the part number. I cannot find anything on DOAH-9425-A or DOAM-9425-A.

I found something else that states "A" in the third place means Ford Generic or Ford Galaxie. I found something else that states a "M" in the forth place means a performance part (SVO or Holman Moody part). Holman Moody was the official racing partner of Ford.

Looks like a 351w to me, weird that it doesnt have the 4 extra bolts though. Not sure when they did away with them though. And since it has the 351w firing order on it... ;-)
