Default how much hp and torque....

i have a 68 coupe, im thinking about doin a restomod. i want to know how much torque and horse power the frame will handle as stock. as well as what recommendations anyone has to handle high hp and tq.
i have a set of twin 68s, one parts, one with a little body rot. nothin not fixable. they came with 200s that are gone now. i want something in the tune of 400 to 500 hp. fuel inj would be nice not to race but to have a little fun. im new to the resto thing but not completly cluless or without resources. i would like some advice on parts that have been tried and tested before dropping the money. pros and cons to crate vs rebuild. smeding, ford racing.... a tranny to support, auto preferably. and any suggestion for subframe reinforcment with recommendations on suppliers. thanks dev

Welcome to MF Dev!
Original 68 Mustangs came equipped with everything from 6s to small block 8s up to 390s and 428 Cobra Jets. I'd speculate that you wouldn't want to go much past 300 hp before starting to do things like subframe connectors.

Tell us a little more about your ride and your plans.

Yea I second that 325 max before you start twisting and distorting.

Subframe connectors at least. Engine compartment stiffening(export brace and monte carlo bar) and depending on how much power you have a little roll bar with some bracing will help as well.
