ok now that you stated the rubber splits....they may be broken

the rubber is split on the passenger and driver side right in the center...it looks like there are two pieces of rubber on either side just resting on each other

does that sound normal...or does that sound broken

^^^^^ What he said. Since they are broken you can either put new stock mounts in (Cheapest), or you can upgrade to motor mounts that can't separate. You can also drill a hole in the new mount through the 2 metal plates and the rubber and insert a bolt so that they can't separate down the road.

well...just one more thing i gotta fix

thanks guys i appreciate it

i think ill stick with stock mounts, because as you said they are the cheapest. im building a stroker motor right now so i can always upgrade mounts when i pull this motor for the new one.

any recommendations on where to buy them? i normally go through cjponyparts

Lakewood makes some mounts called Muscle Mounts, they're a stronger beefier version of a stock rubber type mount. They'll fit a tad tighter than a stock rubbers, but they won't break easily.

The quick way to check is to open the hood so you can see, start the engine and then power brake it slightly. If the motor jumps up you have a broken mount.

You don't have to burn the tires just do it about half throttle. With the hood up you can see if the eninge is moving. If it does you need mounts.
