Default 65 coupe race car. to 66 FB street car...?

so i came across this car while looking around on the web. it was a late model kinda deal in the late 70's has a tube chassis. dana rear. fuel cell etc etc. complete cage.
now, i have some thoughts going through my head. both would include making it into a street car. one of them being takin the coupe body off and cutting all the bars out of the way that would get in the way of atleast a passenger, and putting the coup body back on and adding everything needed to make it a street car.
OR i was thinking maybe taking the 66 FB body off and putting it onto the frame to make a kickass full tube frame fastback street car.
thoughts? hes asking for offers currently, and i really dont know if i could get it but hey, its a thought. it was listed at 1500
heres the 2 pics he has, im asking for more.

any thoughts? i do race so i know what i would be getting into. im just wondering if the frame might be offset

oh yeah, if i did it i would most likely keep the coupe body and keep the FB mostly stock. and this would be a long term project. nothing done quickly

Why not,do something different, sounds like a lot of work, would you cut the body off the rails? I am a little confused as to the process since mustang are unibody cars?

since its a tube chassis car. there are no frame rails attached directly to the body. its kinda hard to explain. but all it is is the sides body itself, the mustang frame rails arent there anymore

Being that old and a race car i would pass on it fully. The suspension is probably all gm and shot whats the rear suspension like on it?What hes trying to say its a frame car someone shoved a mustang shell just the skin over.Only frame i would put my mustang on is http://www.gmachinechassis.com/ he has a frame for the 67-70 but he could make it fit a 64-66 easy.

It looks like a tube chassis car from the pics but it doesn't look like the chassis was built specifically for the mustang judging by the cage around the windows. It looks to me like it was just a dirt track car that someone grafted the body panels on. I wouldn't mess with it unless you just wanted a track car. All the panels on the car look like they've been cut up and it looks like the doors are just the outside skins welded on. If you wanted doors on it the tube chassis would have to be cut back. There is no way I'd try to turn it back to a street car.

I wouldn't touch it. It's been beat to hell, and who knows how well the work was done originally. It'd take more than it's worth to make it driveable, let alone race-worthy.

No sain person would try to make that a street car. Not worth the time, money or effort.
