Default Is it a good assumption?

Something ive notice recently. On the rare occasion when i have to hit the road while the choke is still engaged (not having time to let it warm up) i have noticed it is very much more responsive and smoother. then once the choke comes off i get a more lazy feeling from the engine, kinda like symptoms of running lean...hesitations ect.

Would this rich condition that the choke is creating trying to tell me that i need to step up a couple jet sizes? 570 holley SA btw

thanks in advance

Basically, yes. I'd check the float level first, though.

Yes, I would start at 2 sizes up. You can also turn your air/fuel mixtures in. That would richen it also, depending on where they are set already.

I think it MAY well be an indication of a lean condition, caused by jets, floats, etc., but it is CERTAINLY an indication of a tune issue.

Not for SURE a carb issue, but probably.... (could be a timing issue in a pinch...)

what's puzzling to me is why the primaries in the 570 are sooooo tiny. in all of the other street avenger carbs, the primary jets are very similar to the secondaries in size.

i also read somewhere that a minimum of 3 jet sizes is needed for any noticeable change. both of my float levels are good.

570:

primary jet: 54
secondary jet: 65

670

primary jet: 65
secondary jet: 68

770

primary jet: 72
secondary jet: 75

870

primary jet: 78
secondary jet: 82
