Default It runs! (new heads)

So I finally got my car running yesterday. For those that don't remember, I blew a head gasket and ended up picking up a set of Trick Flow heads. After several setbacks, I finally got it all together with Jonward's help. Fired it up yesterday and drove it to class

....and got pulled over right as I got to class. CHP gave me a warning, but told me that if I get pulled over again anytime soon, it'll show up when they look my license plate up on their computer. So now I'm all freaked out about testing the car's limits

I do have to say, the motor seems like it has more low end grunt now. I haven't taken it above 3500 yet, so I have no idea how it performs when I get into it in the power band, but so far I'm happy. I also probably need to retune the carb and add a little ignition advance.

My desktop dyno software guesstimates 352hp @ 6500 (and climbing) and 346ft-lbs @ 4500. While probably optimistic, I'm confidant I'm above the 1hp and 1ft-lb per cube mark

Anyway, I'll report back when I play with it a little more.

Very nice! (Minus the getting pulled over part) Where did you get pulled over? on the 101?

I'll have to check these new heads out when I get back to SLO...

What'd they pull you over for? Goofing around?

I got pulled over on northbound Hwy 1, just as I got to Cuesta. I was super late to class (because I was putting the car back together) and I got stuck behind some lady in a 4-runner going 62 in the left lane. Passed her on the right because she wouldn't move over, hit maybe 75 (in a 65 zone) as I passed, then got pulled over as I turned into the left-hand turn lane half a mile down the road.

The CHP was pretty nice though, so no complaints.

You have to take it up past 4000 and let us know. I was thinking about some new heads, but Ive got lots of other things that need to happen first. Lets see some pics too!

oh wow ok, right at cuesta then. I didn't realize there is even a hiding place
for coppers on hwy 1 to cuesta, unless he was just traveling along and heard your car he probably pulled you over just to check it out haha

solid lifter cam?

i agree about the 1hp per cube. i was stoked to make 340hp 335ftlbs with my wee little 306.

I'm pretty sure Bill has trick flows on his 347 '66. Those seem to be the most popular one out there right now. I wanna see some video!
