How can I Strip Cowel Vent paint?
I am stripping the roof and window bays with airplane stripper. But now I have run into a slight problem. How would I strip the cowel vent without all the paint and chemicals going down inside? Is there a drain at the bottom that could be rinsed out if I use the chemicals?
Not a choice to slightly sand it since it is starting to peel in the area and there is at least 8 to 9 coats of primer and paint.
Is there a way I can get something like a bunch of paper towels shoved inside to absorb the mess? Other than trying to squeeze it through the hood vent itself? I haven't even tried to get under the dash yet, so I don't know if there is a way through there.
Any suggestions?

I just poored paint stripper into my cowl and used a rod to help scrape out extra paint. Then washed it all away by using a hose in the cowl it came out both sides old paint ect.. Everything the stripper got was washed out then I used a fan and got the insides dry then coated the insided again with por 15.

I sanded top cowl vents by hand.
You may open a can of worms if you get stripper into the cowl and it attacks the tophats and seam sealer and starts leaking water.
I took about 3 hours using sand paper wrapped around paint sticks and ROUND pencils and a flapper disk in in a drill going slowly. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=93016
