I measured a 289 block and a 302 block some time ago and found almost .100" difference in them. Given that this is a cast edge at the bottom as opposed to a machine edge, it would stand to reason that core shifting could probably cause that much difference. Also out of however many hundreds of thousands of 289 and 302 blocks cast, it could have been that I had the shortest 289 ever cast and the longest 302 ever made. Even though I personally measured these two particular blocks finding a significant difference and the other person measured two blocks and found no difference is statistically anecdotal data when considering this data comes from the measurement of four blocks out of probably a few million that were cast.

That said, the idea of a later, roller block is a great suggestion from where I sit. The idea to build the stroker from the 351W block is even a better idea IMHO. No replacement for.... well you know.

yeah, the only problem in a 351w is getting some heads that will work well if you dont wanna buy aftermarket. the gt40's came on 351w's but they werent all that good.. i wish ford would have made some good stock heads. for the W anyways. im surprised theres no talk about cleve's

I agree with Starfury on this one. A roller motor is the way to go. That is what I did when I put my motor together. Details are in my sig. below.

What RPM are you redlining at? with a light weight crank/rods, the redline rpm should go up correct? even with it being a stroker...
