So I'm thinking "What did I do?" Is it off center?

No, it's centered because the hood gap is right to the fenders on both sides. In this pictures I dropped in some Sharpie pens in the shock brace holes and they are lined up with the old firewall. Just so happens Sharpies are a tight fit in there. [IMG][/IMG]

So, I declare that one side of the new cowl piece is too short. I gotta' make a little piece and weld it in.

Alright, that passes.

Ok, next stop, ...the back window...................

NICE! I had similar issues and really had to work the fenders HARD to get it where I was happy. BIG PITA but its one of those areas you will notice everytime you look at the car. Nice job.

My cowl doesn't fit right either, haha. No surprise a mass produced piece doesn't fit a hand built car that's not square.
I might have a question for you about it in the future, but for now great work! It's looking nicer every time you update!

I would have slathered POR15 or something inside the cowl since the EDP tends to wear off when it weathers. Unless you plan for it to never seen rain or leaves..

Default what was the filler metal gauge?

re: post #161...what was the gauge of the filler strip? Did you form a curve in it to make a "L" shape? Looks great!

It was 20 gauge, about .035", same as the cowl and butt welded to the cowl piece. I bent it long ways on a brake, then shrunk and stretched to make it fit up and around the corner where it met with the windshield area.

Thanks!

I'm getting ready to post pictures of the back window. Any final thoughts before I post what I did???? I'd love to get another point of view before I show how I went about it.

ALMOST DONE WITH THE METAL WORK!!!
