Modernizing a 289 engine
I think after I retire, I will have plenty of time on my hands to upgrade OldYeller's engine. I ran across this article that sounds pretty much what I want to pursue. Any thoughts or suggestions? http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/5256/

Hiya Soarin,
IMO I like the stock look. Maybe upgrade the cam and heads but leave the dress up kit A code looking. That is what I'm doing right now. It is really a good feeling when you FIND the actual vintage part to add it to your car. ebay has been a source for me in the last few months for a center console, 4v intake and Autolite 4100 carb. Bidding is like gamblin. The last few minutes really gets you going! I got my intake and carb for 300.00. The center console was in great shape and was 300. I am sending the carb in to Pony carbs this winter (my Christmas present) to get the rebuild and plate job. I think around 300. It really looks good when they finish. I am still on the fence about a new cam and heads myself. I guess maybe next year when I have more money I will do them. Right now my next purchase is hipo exhaust. I do have a question about that. My stock exhaust have a couple of heat lines running out of them. The hipo do not have the place for that. Where do I get heat for the carb from?
